Jane Tu Ya Jane Na Movie Review
Last weak ending I had a really good time, guest posting when I saw the movie “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na…”. I really enjoyed the film and felt it was worth my money. The film features a stellar cast of newcomers, with the film’s top-lining hero being Imran Khan, who was better known as Aamir’s nephew than as Imran Khan himself. But after this film, his own identity will definitely be made.
The film has a tough competition from another debutant Harman Baweja’s film “Love Story 2050”. Who always looked like hero material. Compared to him, Imran Khan never seems to have that oomph factor, but he definitely works with his understanding of every scene and talent.
When the first promo of “Love Story 2050” came out, which shows Mumbai in 2050 with skyscrapers, planes flying, and Harman Baweja posing with his name, I was really excited about the film. I thought, wow, this is the original Bollywood sci-fi film. But when the next promos started rolling in they were not that thrilling, they really failed to drive me to the theatres. Looks like the film’s director and Harman’s father Harry Baweja worked hard to launch his son as a hero. Looks like they want to give her a great launch, so she has to dance well, she has to have a great body, and everything else. And other stuff might have gone in the back. Anyway, I have never seen the movie so I shouldn’t comment on it. But as I watched “Jane Tu…” Drive more people to the theaters than “Love Story 2050” because the weak ending “Jaane Tu…” was houseful and “Love Story..” gave people a second thought.
Unlike “Love Story…”, the first promo “Jane Tu…” was not as good. But after that, the excitement rises with the promo. The promos tell me that it is a youth-oriented, light-hearted romantic film. an R. Rahman with catchy songs. And then the producer was Aamir Khan which almost equates to a quality film. Which I don’t think is true for any superstar in Bollywood. I am a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan but he also does films like RGV’s Sholay. That’s a different story anyway. Aamir Khan worked very hard to promote this film, he even got the support of the media, which he usually does not do. If this film has a good opening, it is because of Aamir’s brand image. But when you are in the theater and the film starts, you never realize that Aamir is associated with this film and you do not feel any need for it.
As far as movies are concerned, you always know the story before you go to see the movie; But you love watching romantic movies and you love a new treat every now and then. Film is always the medium of expression of the director and Abbas Tyrewala has done a wonderful job. Being a writer definitely helps them. The script of the film is very good and you enjoy each and every scene. The casting of the film is also in discussion. Everyone did a great job. Everyone’s performance was impeccable except Genelia, I feel she could have done better being experienced among the young cast. The film is in line with Imtiaz Ali’s new-age romantic films like “Socha Na Tha” and “Jab We Met”.
I believe the success of any film lies in the fact that you never want it to end, you want to move on or think about what will happen next. And “Jane you…” give me that feeling. So it is definitely a well-made film. And of course AR as always. of music. Rehman is the best.
